Concacaf Champions Cup places on the line for 2024 Leagues Cup finalists
The Leagues Cup final will determine the two invited teams that will automatically secure their place in the next edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
Wednesday’s semi-finals for the 2024 Leagues Cup will determine which sides will meet in the final to become Inter Miami’s successors with the Herons champions of the inaugural tournament last year. In addition to the lucrative prize-money at stake and the prestige for advancing to the final, the lure of a place competing in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup is also on the line for the finalists.
The current champions of the competition are Pachuca, who defeated Columbus Crew in the 2024 Champions Cup final and progressing to the continental competition offers the possibility for the likes of Columbus Crew, LAFC and Philadelphia Union to cement current sporting projects and throws a valuable lifeline to Colorado Rapids after their wretched 2023 season where they finished rock bottom of the MLS standings.
For next seasons Concacaf Champions Cup, MLS will be represented by nine teams. Three from Leagues Cup, the US Open Cup winners and the four best-ranked teams at the end of the season anlong with MLS Cup winner.
