CONCACAF Champions Cup: quarter-final dates, times, fixtures

Here’s how the continental championship looks as we move into the final eight.

The Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup is over, and teams such as Chivas, Nashville, Alajuelense, Philadelphia Union, Robinhood, Alajuelense, Houston Dynamo, Orlando City and Nashville have all been kicked out of the competition.

The clubs that are still alive in this cut-throat competition will give their best to get to the next stage, and the rivalry between MLS and Liga MX will be once again brought to attention.

Here’s a quick look at the games we’ve got coming up in this fascinating tournament that continues to surprise...

Club América vs New England Revolution

Las Águilas broke into a cold sweat as they almost ended up level with Chivas in the second leg, but in the end the Azulcremas eliminated their eternal rivals and still have the dream of the Club World Cup in sight. On the other hand, New England Revolution had a more comfortable previous round by comfortably beating Costa Rica’s Alajuelense.

Columbus Crew vs Tigres

Los Felinos had no difficulty in eliminating Orlando City, who were never able to put Tigres under any pressure and left San Nicolás de los Garza fully thumped. On the other side, the MLS side got through the Round of 16 with ease, knocking out Houston Dynamo.

Monterrey vs Inter Miami

For many fans, this is the most intriguing duel of this round: Monterrey have a solid squad of players and the Florida team notably have Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez in their ranks. The Mexican side’s fans are understandably excited at the prospect of a visit from Inter Miami, which is why tickets are expected to be sold out at the BBVA Stadium.

Pachuca vs Herediano

Los Tuzos put on a show of sublime football as they thrashed Philadelphia Union with a scandalous 6-0 scoreline at the Estadio Hidalgo, a result which sees them go into the quarter-finals as favourites to reach the final four. On the other hand, Herediano surprised by eliminating Toluca and, in the Round of 16, they defeated Robinhood to reach the quarter-finals in high spirits, despite being the underdogs.

When will the games be played?

While we have no official confirmation just yet on when the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals will take place, we can assume that the dates of April 2 and April 9 are ideal for the games to happen.

There is a gap in the calendars and it would make sense in order to give enough time for all sides to rest and recover before domestic matches, while also giving enough time to play the semi-finals and finals at a later date.

As happens with all the soccer news from the continental competition, AS USA will be keeping you in the loop and full of elite coverage as the tournament progresses.
