Who is the top scorer in Copa América?

We have seen some fantastic performances in the Copa América so far. Teams such as Uruguay, Panama and Venezuela have impressed while countries that were expected to perform have not had such a successful time in the tournament.

Perhaps most notably, the USMNT crashed out after their final Group Stage game, a 1-0 loss to Uruguay, saw them bow out with just 3 points from a possible 9, highlighting a plethora of questions that simply must be addressed before they next step out onto a football pitch.

As well as the US, there is also Mexico, who fell in a group that contained Ecuador, Jamaica and the aforementioned Venezuela. El Tri cannot get the wheels moving after their promising Gold Cup success last year, and now eyebrows are being raised yet again at how things are done inside the camp.

As for the top creators, James Rodríguez leads the way with 3 assists from 2 games. The Colombian attacker, while not being centre stage in Europe anymore at club level, the former Everton man is shining on the international stage, and has found his place in Néstor Lorenzo’s side.

Behind him, on 2 assists, sits a Uruguayan: Nicolás de la Cruz, who is ahead of James with 8 chances created compared to 5 from the Colombian. However, Colombia have played a game less at the time of writing, so it’s not all over for James.
