Having qualified for this season’s Spanish Super Cup, Barça, Betis, Madrid and Valencia were given byes to the last 32. They are joined in the hat by the 28 teams that made it through this midweek’s second-round ties. The clubs in Friday’s draw are:
How will the Copa del Rey draw work?
The highest-ranked teams will be paired against the lowest-ranked available opposition. For example, a club from Segunda RFEF, the fourth tier of the Spanish league pyramid, is guaranteed to face a top-flight side.
When will the ties be played?
The round-of-32 ties, which will be single-elimination matches involving extra time and penalties if necessary, are scheduled to be played on 3, 4 and 5 January 2023.
In each tie, the team from the lower division will be at home. If both clubs are from the same tier, home advantage will be decided during Friday’s draw.
