An image of Federico Valverde following the altercation with Aurélien Tchouaméni has already emerged; in an incident that has sparked criticism around the club and, especially, towards the Uruguayan midfielder, he was hit after a heated argument and later required medical attention and hospital treatment.

The image surfaced through a social media post by Mina Bonino, Valverde’s wife, showing the Uruguayan in a family setting and away from the media spotlight, while the club attempts to move on from an episode that has directly affected the team’s preparations for the Clásico. The couple appeared alongside one of their children, dressed up for a school event, a common activity at this time of year.

As things stand, Valverde will not be available for the match against Barcelona, as he is expected to rest for between 10 and 14 days after being diagnosed with a head injury. According to the statement released by the player himself, the injury occurred when he hit his head on a table after falling in the Real Madrid dressing room. However, AS has already reported that the issue stemmed from a punch thrown by Tchouaméni following a heated confrontation between the two on Wednesday, which reportedly continued on Thursday.

From a sporting perspective, Valverde’s absence represents a major setback for Real Madrid, who will be without one of their most important players in terms of intensity, dynamism and balance. Arbeloa will now have to cope without him at Camp Nou against Barcelona, while it remains unclear whether the midfielder will play again this season.
