Could Barcelona sign Dutch star Xavi Simons?
The Dutchman is impressing at PSV and Barcelona see him as option for their attacking department.
Xavi Simons is impressing everyone with his performances at PSV this season. The talented Dutchman came through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy between the ages of 10 and 16, but due to a lack of opportunities at Barcelona, he headed to Paris to join PSG.
After struggling to make an impact in France, he returned to the Netherlands. In his first season in the Eredivisie, he has netted 16 goals and provided 8 assists under head coach Ruud Van Nisltelrooy.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Simons is one of the names on Barcelona’s attacking shortlist. PSV currently value the player at €30m, but PSG have an option to buy him back for €12m. The Ligue 1 club are open to resigning Simons and are willing to raise their offer to €20m to secure his services.
Simons key for Koeman
Simons has become one of the key players in Ronald Koeman’s Dutch side. At the age of 19, the former Barcelona youth player is in the running to be the Eredivisie’s top scorer this season, alongside Anastasios Douvikas. Simons has scored 13 league goals, while the Utrecht striker has 14.
