Tickets for Spain’s World Cup final have soared to record levels, turning a trip to New Jersey into a luxury few fans can afford.

Spain and Argentina have already booked its place in the 2026 World Cup final, and excitement among fans has reached fever pitch. However, joining the national team at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey has become a luxury few can afford. Ticket prices for the showpiece match have sparked widespread outrage, to the point that even the Spanish Football Federation has criticised what it considers an unacceptable situation for ordinary supporters.

The cheapest ticket available through FIFA’s official platform now costs around $7,500, while VIP experiences reach about $35,200. Demand, combined with dynamic pricing and FIFA’s official resale system, has driven prices far beyond the governing body’s original rates, sending the cost of attending the final to unprecedented levels for a World Cup.

Among the critics is RFEF president Rafael Louzán, who voiced his frustration in comments to Cadena SER: “The cheapest ticket for the big final is like $4,000. These are prices like for plane tickets, which are dynamic and go up and down. It’s a real shame. It’s something you can’t allow. There are many Spanish fans, middle- or lower-class, who make a huge effort to be here. And between ticket prices, flights, hotels that aren’t less than about $940..."

The expense does not stop with the ticket. A direct flight from Madrid to New York costs more than $1,290, while a hotel near the stadium for two nights can easily exceed $1,170. On top of that come transport, meals and other travel expenses.

As a result, attending a historic World Cup final featuring Spain can easily cost more than $9,400 per person, even without choosing luxury options. What was once a celebration accessible to ordinary football fans is increasingly becoming an exclusive event. While Spain dreams of lifting the World Cup, many of its supporters will be forced to watch from afar because the cost of making the trip has become prohibitive.

For those looking for a more organised option, several travel agencies have already begun offering dedicated World Cup final packages. One example is Viajarxmenos, which is selling a package for around $10,400 per person, including return flights, stadium transfers, an official match ticket, travel insurance and assistance throughout the trip. Even so, the price underlines the enormous financial commitment now required to experience a World Cup final in the United States.
