Inter Miami’s rebuild continues as the team prepares for the next season, set to begin at the end of February. However, Javier Mascherano’s squad has suffered significant losses for the 2025 campaign, which is hugely pressured already.

Among the notable departures are Ecuadorian striker Leonardo Campana, who has joined the New England Revolution, and Diego Gómez, now signed by Brighton in the Premier League.

To these exits, Matías Rojas may soon be added, as he is reportedly on the verge of joining River Plate.

According to TYC Sports, the Paraguayan midfielder, whose contract with Inter Miami was not renewed for the 2025 season despite ongoing negotiations, is close to becoming a key addition for River Plate, also known as the ‘Millonarios.’

As a free agent, Rojas is free to negotiate his future with the Argentine club, which will compete in the 2025 Club World Cup—a significant stage for the 29-year-old to showcase his talent.

Matías Rojas' record at Inter Miami

Rojas joined Inter Miami in April 2024 as a midfield reinforcement. He made an immediate impact, delivering three goals and one assist in his first three appearances for the Florida club.

One of his standout performances came in a 6-2 victory over the New York Red Bulls, where he scored twice after coming on as a substitute at halftime. He also contributed a goal and an assist in the team’s 3-2 win over Montreal.

Despite his strong start, Rojas’ performances declined later in the season. Nevertheless, he managed to leave a mark in a match against Atlanta United, where he scored one of Miami’s goals in a 2-3 defeat under then-coach Tata Martino.
