Cristiano Ronaldo breaks yet another record as Al Nassr advance in Arab Club Champions Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo bagged the late equaliser that saw Al Nassr progress to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Arab Club Championship Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo came to the rescue for Al Nassr on Thursday night as the veteran Portuguese bagged an 87th minute equaliser in the Arab Club Championship Cup clash against Egyptian giants Zamalek. The goal secured a point (as part of a 1-1 draw) that saw the Riyadh based side advance to the next stage and also Cristiano break a new record with his headed goal.

With the goal Arab Club Champions Cup, the Madeira born striker became the player with most headed goals in football history, leaving behind the previous record held by ‘Der Bomber’, German striker, Gerd Müller.

It took 42 years for someone to beat the Müller’s record of 144 headed goals and with the goal against Zamalek, the Portuguese tops the list with 145 but with the new Saudi Pro League set to start imminently and Al Nassr advancing in the Arab Club Champions Cup, it’s inevitable that Cristiano will extend the record.

Al Nassr now face Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the next stage of the competition with the quarter final clash set to go ahead next Sunday at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium, Abha (Saudi Arabia).
