It was an ill-fated second spell at Manchester United for the player that had written himself into the history books in North-west England. Ronaldo’s time ended with both technical and sporting staff agreeing to rescind his contract and thus put and end to his golden period in European football.

The forward, who went to Saudi Arabia after receiving an astronomically high offer from Al-Nassr, was not able to say goodbye to his teammates due to the rising tensions between the player and the club, making a deserved goodbye feel less than ideal. The various post-World Cup holidays also meant that formal goodbyes were not able to be had between Ronaldo and his ex-teammates.

A Saudi Arabian goodbye

For that reason, Ronaldo has invited some of his ex-colleagues with whom he had a good relationship to Saudi Arabia to watch a game with his new team, according to English newspaper, The Sun.

Of the chosen players, it is not a surprise that Casemiro and Varane have received an invite, given that they were good friends with Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Bruno Fernandes is a teammate with portugal and Harry Maguire, one of the captains at the club.

There is also the possibility of a reunion in Lisbon, given the tight schedule of all involved and Ronaldo is travelling to the Portuguese capital as he is building a new mansion, worth more than €20 million.
