Cruz Azul confirm Gonzalo Carneiro injury
Cruz Azul have announced that Carneiro has a problem in his left foot that will keep him out of action.
Cruz Azul have not had much luck recently after losing at home to Monterrey and La Máquina have now announced that Gonzalo Carneiro will be out of action with an injury to his left foot.
The Mexican side announced the news on their social channels that the Uruguayan forward has a contusion in the calcaneus bone of his left foot, but did not specify how long he will be out of action.
“Uruguayan striker Gonzalo Carneiro has a contusion in the calcaneus bone of his left foot. The player’s return will depend on the evolution of the injury,” the statement reads.
In recent weeks, Raúl Guitérrez’s team have struggled to sign any of the players they were targeting, with former Barcelona striker Luis Suárez leaving for Gremio and Enner Valencia preferring to stay in Europe.
La Máquina have Iván Morales, Ramiro Carrera, Uriel Antuna and Michael Estrada registered as strikers, but there are plans within the club to sign one more.
