It was a matter of hours before it was finally confirme. Cruz Azul will no longer have the Paraguayan Ángel Romero for the Clausura 2023. The player was never able to get up to speed with La Máquina in just under a year at the club.

After the arrival of the Argentines Augusto Lotti and Ramiro Carrera, the team from La Noria confirmed their first departure. The native of Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay, arrived at Cruz Azul on February 2 after several months without action, a team where he played 39 matches between the Concachampions and Liga MX, accumulating 2,145 minutes, five goals and three assists.

Romero was harshly criticized by the sky-blue fans after a series of disappointments in several Cruz Azul matches, the same situations that annoyed the board of directors and for this reason they decided not to renew his contract.

According to several South American reporters, Romero is close to heading to Corinthians for free, a team that had already been tracking him for several weeks
