With Everton moving to a new stadium for the 2025/26 Premier League season, last weekend’s visit of Liverpool was supposed to be the final Merseyside derby at the iconic Goodison Park. But Mother Nature had other plans...

As Storm Darragh battered the West of the UK concerns for supporter safety grew and Everton opted to postpone the clash. With other scheduling considerations to take into account, a new date for the fixture was not immediately announced. Now, it looks like we have a potential date for the rearranged game.

The Mirror reports that the rescheduled Everton - Liverpool game has been set for Tuesday, February 11, a midweek fixture for the final derby match at Goodison Park. The report adds that the Premier League is still in talks with local police to ensure that the game can go off safely.

Busy fixture schedule for Everton and Liverpool

Where other European leagues take a break over the Christmas period, the English top flight goes in the other direction. Festive soccer has always been a part of the national calendar and many teams will be playing three games across eight days in late December, making the task of rescheduling the fixture tricky.

This month Everton still have games against Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Nottingham Forest lined up. Meanwhile Liverpool have to play Fulham, Southampton, Spurs, Leicester and West Ham. Liverpool also have two midweek Champions League games in January, further complicating things for the Premier League fixture computer.

Nevertheless Liverpool boss Arne Slot recently dismissed talk of fixture congestion, insisting that the busy schedule would allow his team to build momentum.

“I wouldn’t say it is a problem,” Slot told reporters back in September, when asked about the packed fixture list in England. “Because if you play these games you get stronger and stronger and stronger.”
