Diego Cocca, Chima Ruiz and Siboldi’s combined figures less than Miguel Herrera’s worst campaign with Tigres
The three men who coached Tigres during the Clausura 2023 tournament gained a combined total of 25 points - more than Herrera’s worst figures.
Tigres, whose minds are firmly on the second leg of the Concachampions semi-final, were punished by León as the curtain closed on the regular phase of Clausura 2023. Robert Siboldi made a number of changes to his side for Sunday’s trip to Estadio León and ended up paying a price as the hosts eased to a 3-0 victory.
That result meant that Nicolás Larcamón’s men finished sixth and will meet San Luis in the playoffs while Tigres, who end seventh, will face Puebla. Tigres’ tally of 25 points is a figure well below what they have registered in recent years - in fact, the combined sum of points under three different coaches is less than what Miguel Herrera amassed when he in charge of the team.
How Cocca, Chima and Siboldi compare
Tigres have had three coaches during the Clausura 2023. Diego Cocca, who was appointed Mexico coach earlier this year, was in charge from matchday 1 to 5. In that period, of the 15 possible points his side took 11 - from three wins and two draws. Chima Ruiz took over the reins in February, but gained the worst figures - from a possible 27 points, the team came away with jut 10: three wins, one draw and five defeats.
Finally, under Siboldi, of the last nine points in play, the team took just four - one draw, one win and one defeat.
Herrera’s numbers
In the three tournaments that he led the team, Miguel Herrera obtained a higher number of points than his successors - in the Apertura 2021 his team gained 28 points, 33 points in the Clausura 2022 and 30 in the Apertura 2022.
