Diego Cocca is planning his Mexico team going forward and has been visiting Liga MX grounds to scout future players.

One player he is having a look at is Alejandro Zendejas. TUDN report that the national team coach spoke with the América player a few days ago to present him with a plan for the 2026 World Cup.

If Zendejas agrees to swap the United States for Mexico, he will have to begin the process of changing federations, which he decided against doing when former boss Gerardo Martino tried to call him up.

If the América player agreed to represent El Tri, there would be no turning back, as the USMNT called him up a few months back for a friendly match.

Cocca prepares for Nations League

Although Cocca has not yet announced his first squad as coach of Mexico, his first call-ups will involve a lot of younger players.

The first matches for the two-time Atlas champion will be against Suriname and Jamaica, both in the Nations League.
