Auctioneer Sotheby’s anticipate further bids for the original Diego Maradona shirt worn in the 1986 World Cup semi-final whis is anticipated to be sold for a staggering seven million dollars plus.

The shirt worn by Diego Maradona when he scored his infamous Hand of God goal against England in the 1986 World Cup semi-final clash has gone on auction with London’ based auctioneer Sotheby’s today.

After just one day of open bids, an offer of 4 million pounds ($5.2 million) has already been secured for the match-worn blue Le Coq Sportif shirt with the bid period open now through to 5 May.

Maradona exchanged the shirt post-game with England player Steve Hodge and the ‘Albiceleste’ went on to win the trophy beating West Germany in the final in Mexico City. The tournament saw ‘El 10′ at the peak of his game with the semi-final always remembered for Maradona’s two goals. His ‘Hand of God’ effort and then his sublime mazy run solo effort that cemented Argentina’s 2-0 win over the English and considered by many as the best World Cup goal of all-time.
