With Qatar 2022 around the corner, the company in charge of developing the famous FIFA video game, carried out a simulation for this year’s tournament in FIFA 23 - the process determined that Argentina will lift the trophy after beating Brazil in the final.

According to the simulation, Argentina’s route to the final will take them past Denmark in the Round of 16, the Netherlands in the quarter-finals and will eliminate the current world champions, France, in the semi-final. That would leave Lionel Scaloni’s team to face their staunch CONMEBOL rivals in the decisive match on 18 December.

Good forecast for the United States

As for the CONCACAF teams, EA Sports predicts that the United States will be the only one from the region to advance from the group stage, thus leaving Mexico, Costa Rica and Canada out of the knockout stage.

According to FIFA 23′s simulation, Gregg Berhalter’s USMNT would qualify as group leader then face Senegal in the Round of 16, to later meet France in the quarter finals. Here, the Stars and Stripes would wave goodbye to the World Cup, reaching the fifth game for the first time since Japan/Korea 2002.

Messi will be the top scorer in the World Cup

EA Sports also shared other forecasted World Cup statistics and revealed according to its prediction that the top scorer in the World Cup will be Lionel Messi who, with eight goals will surpass other big name stars such as Kylian Mbappé, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski.

Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic would be in the list of top scorers - the American forward is tipped to score five goals in the five games that the USMNT will play in the World Cup.
