After Friday’s resounding success with the visit of Messi and Inter Miami at the Cuscatlán Stadium, the Central American country is already thinking about the next events that could be hosted in its most emblematic stadium. Among the alternatives they are considering are Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

The president of Escenarios Deportivos de El Salvador (EDESSA), Néstor Castaneda, highlighted the major changes that have been made to the stadium and the planning that had to be implemented for The Herons to approve the visit of the Argentinean star. These modifications also mean that in the future they will be able to host more events with top teams of elite players.

Talks happening to set up Al Nassr against El Salvador

In his interview for the Salvadoran radio program, ‘Diana Verónica y Tony’, Castaneda emphasised that they will aim for the highest to have great soccer spectacles: “We have said that we will no longer be satisfied with national matches. Today we are going to look for high-level teams from Mexico, South America and, why not, from Europe as well”.

Following this, one of the people on the program commented that the producer of the event in which Messi starred is now dreaming of Real Madrid or Barcelona, to which Castaneda responded: “Yes, there is even Cristiano Ronaldo’s team (Al-Nassr). There are talks. As this was a pilot plan (Inter Miami ), the investment that has been made is really big”.

‘It is possible to have high-level international matches’

Finally, the president of EDESSA was very clear about what is to come: “We must thank the sponsors. They bet on this event and they will realise that it is possible to have high-level international matches again. I believe that private enterprise, the big national and international brands will be motivated so that when the next team comes, they will be happy to sponsor them”.

With the words of the head of Escenarios Deportivos, also comes the beginning of the process of David Dóniga, who will be in charge of guiding ‘La Selecta’ in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in North America, and the fact of having a Cuscatlán Stadium in good conditions will be very important for the players to play an attractive game and for the fans to enjoy watching their national team.
