Erling Haaland has scored more goals than 10 Liga MX clubs

The Manchester City striker has found the back of the net 39 times in 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

It looks like Erling Haaland has become the missing piece that Manchester City was looking for to avoid another failure in the UEFA Champions League this season. The 22-year-old striker scored five goals in the 7-0 win over RB Leipzig on Tuesday night in the round of 16 of the competition and head coach Pep Guardiola decided to take him off in the 63rd minute of the match.

Haaland has scored 39 goals in all competitions (36 appearances) and he is showing no sign of slowing down. The Norwegian striker has scored 10 goals in the Champions League, 28 in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup. Haaland has a 1.08 goal-per-game ratio since joining City in the summer, better than any other striker in the world.

More goals than entire clubs in Liga MX

The striker has scored more goals than the entire Liga MX side Club Querétaro. The Gallos Blancos have scored 35 goals in their last 36 games between Clausura 2022 to Clausura 2023. Querétaro needed three tournaments to score that many goals and Haaland did it in less than a year.

The 22-year-old has even scored more goals than ten teams in Liga MX in the Clausura 2023. Chivas, León, Cruz Azul, FC Juárez, Atlético San Luis, Necaxa, Tijuana, Pumas, Atlas, Mazatlán and Querétaro combined have 39 goals from July 2022 to March 2023, the same amount that Haaland has scored this year with City.
