Erling Haaland named PFA Players’ Player of the Year
Haaland scored a phenomenal 52 goals in his first season at Manchester City.
Erling Haaland has been named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year. The Manchester City striker broke the single-season Premier League goalscoring record in 2022-23 with 36 goals in just 35 games. Voted by fellow professionals, the prestigious award recognises his contribution across the season.
Haaland’s first season at Man City
The Norwegian goalscoring machine scored a phenomenal 52 goals in his first season at City. Haaland helped Pep Guardiola’s side win the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League in a remarkable 2022-23 season for the club.
He also won the Premier League Player of the Season award for his performances in blue.
Haaland hungry for more
“It’s an honour to win this prestigious award,” Haaland said. “To be recognised by your competitors is a great feeling and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“It was an unforgettable season for the team and for me personally. Winning the Treble was something I never imagined, so to achieve that with such a special group of players was an amazing feeling.
“John, Rodri, Ruben and Kevin all deserve their place in the Team of the Year and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with this recognition too.
“We created some incredible memories last season, but now we want to do the same again this year. We have started the season well and we need to keep going.”
