Ethan Horvath will remain in the English League Championship next season
The United States international goalkeeper joins Luton Town on a season-long loan in search of minutes with the World Cup getting ever closer.
Ethan Horvath was to be included in the United States final roster that will travel to Qatar in November for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and he is aware that he needs more minutes in order to be considered by coach Gregg Berhalter. So the 27-year-old has joined English League Championship side Luton Town on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest.
The Tricky Trees secured promotion to the Premier League last campaign but Horvath only made six appearances for a total of 540 minutes. So the Forest’s have been active during the summer transfer window and are reportedly adding English goalkeeper Dean Henderson on loan or Welsh goalkeeper Wyane Hennessy.
Luton adding depth
The good news is that Horvath will be able to fight for more playing time with the Hatters in the English League Championship next season. Luton Town were in need of a goalkeeper because starter James Shea continues to recover from a major knee injury.
The United States international will fight Matt Macey for the starting job with the Hatters during the pre-season. More playing time for Horvarth in the next few months will put him in competition for a place in the United States men’s national team roster.
