Ronaldo threatens

Early in the second half, Ronaldo hit the post as Portugal continued to threaten the Liechtenstein goal.

Portugal open the scoring

Although the first half had few clear goal-scoring chances, within seconds of the start of the second half, Ronaldo managed to open the scoring with a left-footed strike in the 46th minute. The former Real Madrid player has 46 goals and 12 assists in the 50 matches he has played this year.

Cancelo takes opportunity

The FC Barcelona full-back made the most of a poor stop from goalkeeper Benjamin Büchel to cut inside and finish from a tight angle to give Portugal a two-goal lead.

Standing ovation for Cristiano

Roberto Martínez decided to take Ronaldo off in the 67th minute, giving his captain a rest ahead of the game against Iceland on Sunday, November 19.

Portugal’s run

With the victory, Portugal have recorded nine victories in nine games in European qualifying, with a total of 27 points, 34 goals scored and just two goals conceded.
