Edson Álvarez will be one of the top names in the next transfer market. The Mexican midfielder from Ajax is on the agenda of several clubs across Europe and it does not seem unlikely that the Dutch team will accept a huge offer for him should it come their way.

According to information from reporter Ekrem Konur, Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich are interested in taking on the player who emerged from the Club América youth academy. However, in order to do so, the Bavarian team would need to battle with Chelsea and Newcastle United to convince the player to move to Germany.

Álvarez has a contract until 2025

It should be remembered that the Mexican midfielder has a contract until July 2025 with the Amsterdam outfit (he renewed in 2021). Therefore, any team that wants Álvarez for the upcoming season will have to certainly pay a hefty fee for the midfielder.

In fact, in the past transfer market, Ajax rejected an offer of almost $50 million from Chelsea as they went on a crazy spending spree with Todd Boehly’s credit card. As for the players that Bayern have who are similar to Edson, they can count on the services of both Kimmich and Goretzka, two immovable figures in the side who Álvarez would be required to usurp, should he move.

Edson’s season at Ajax took a turn for the worst when he missed a penalty in the KNVB Cup final, which handed the trophy to their rivals, PSV. However, this black mark on his 22/23 resumé is not a huge one, as across the season the 25-year-old has played well, featuring 27 times, scoring 3 and assisting 3.
