What to know ahead of El Clásico

Barcelona is currently sitting atop the table, ahead of second-place Madrid by nine points. A win would bring that lead up to 12 and pretty much seal the title for the Catalans. Just a few weeks ago, they beat Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal. Madrid did win against Barça back in October, 3-1, though, and their recent defeat over Liverpool in the Champions League has given them some hope for this weekend.

Heading into the game against Real Madrid, Barcelona is coming off of a three-game winning streak of 1-0 games. Their defense, with Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Alex Balde, has conceded just eight goals all season. Their only possible injury concern is Pedri, who is questionable with muscular issues.

For Real Madrid, it’s Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema, and Vinicius Junior leading the way. They are dealing with a few injuries as David Alaba is out with a hamstring injury and Ferland Mandy is out with muscular issues.

The game gets underway this Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m, ET at Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona.
