After the debacle against Real Madrid in the Cup, there is a certain rush at the club to recover injured players. This is especially urgent at this point of the season considering that some of them, like Ousmane Dembélé, have been out for two and a half months, while that Pedri is well on his way to two months on the sidelines. The absences become worrying as the initial prediction was to have them both back for the LaLiga Clásico on March 19. However, Pedri’s negative feelings, just before he was about to be given the all-clear, as well as the utmost caution regarding Dembélé's recovery, have ended up postponing the expected deadlines for their returns.

In fact, AS has been told that Xavi will still not be able to count on any returning players ahead of this Monday’s game against Girona. It will not be until next weekend when the first of the injured players reappear: if there is no setback, Frenkie de Jong will be ready for the game against Getafe on April 16.

The Dutch international suffered a small tear in this hamstring during the match against Real Madrid on March 19, which gave an initial prediction of three weeks out. However, the medical services trusted Frenkie’s ‘miracle’ ability of cutting down the deadlines, taking into account his remarkable recovery capacity, but in the end the feeling were not ideal and it was decided that De Jong’s return was not to be rushed.

When will Pedri return to the team?

The next player that could reappear is Pedri - remember him? The midfielder is rushing his rehabilitation through with the goal set on making the game against Getafe or at the latest against Atlético de Madrid a week later.

Dembélé has the same objective on the horizon, although in the case of the Frenchman, his return is more fixedon being back against Atlético. As things stand the situation looks positive and Dembélé is expected to be able to play his first minutes on April 23.

And, finally, Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who suffered a tear in his calf on March 24, could also reach the date with Atlético or, at the latest, three days later, against Rayo Vallecano.
