Meanwhile, PSG is keeping tabs. Luis Enrique has always trusted Ferran, and although competition in Paris would be fierce, the idea of joining the reigning Champions League winners appeals to him. If a formal offer arrives, he’ll listen.

Race against the clock

The World Cup has boosted Ferran’s market value even further, which could push Barcelona to demand a higher fee if he asks to leave. But time is working against the club.

Starting January 1, Ferran can negotiate with any team to leave for free next summer. That puts Barça in a weakened position: they want him to stay, Ferran is open to staying, but every delay strains the relationship.

It’s a delicate situation — one where Barcelona risks losing a World Cup hero for nothing if they don’t move soon.
