One of the most talked-about forwards in Europe, Folarin Balogun, has impressed in Europe this season; after shining in Arsenal’s academy, he took the step up to Ligue 1 and Stade de Reims, where he has had regular playing time at the top level.

And in the final week of the Ligue 1 season, Balogun reminded the Reims fans what they were going to miss, as he scored another goal, meaning he finished the season on 21 for the club across the 2022/23 season.

Balogun to play against Mexico in the Nations League

The 21-year-old striker recently made his decision known regarding which country he would represent at the top level of international football, choosing the USA over England, despite being part of the Three Lions’ youth setup.

Balogun made the list for the most recent USA first-team call-up and will be a part of the squad as they take on Mexico in the Final Four of the Nations League (a game which you will of course be able to follow on en.as.com).

It’s worth remembering that despite losing to Montpellier (1-3) in match week 38 and finishing in 10th position, Balogun became the reference point for goals in the side and will more than likely have options to make a move to a European team with top-level aspirations.

Balogun, who was on a less successful loan at Middlesbrough before a move to Reims, will finally make his international debut.

French football has enjoyed Concacaf’s best strikers

The striker, who will be the new poster boy for one of Concacaf’s giants, was not the only forward who finished in the top ranking of France’s goal scorers, since Canada’s Jonathan David put LOSC Lille into the UEFA Conference League places with his 24 goals throughout the season. He too may think about seeking a new challenge in the summer.

The current situation for both David and Balogun now points towards the Nations League Final Four. The American will debut against Mexico, while it is highly probable that the Canadian will make the list given by John Herdman for the upcoming fixtures, including the Gold Cup 2023.
