Folarin Balogun is having a record-breaking season in Ligue 1 with Reims and over the weekend he became the youngest player to score at least 16 goals in his first year since the 1960/61 campaign in France. The Arsenal loanee scored the game winning goal against Monaco at the age of 21 years and 252 days old.

Uncertain about his international future

Balogun is tied in third place in the Ligue 1 top scorers alongside Ben Yedder (AS Monaco) and Alexandre Lacazatte (Lyon). The 21-year-old striker arrived during the summer transfer window on loan from Arsenal in search of more minutes and he is sending a strong message to manager Mikel Arteta with the breakout campaign he is having.

The striker has also to make up his mind regarding his international career because he is eligible to play for England, the United States and Nigeria. Folarin Balogun is another Arsenal loanee to stand out since Arteta took over the managerial job in 2019. If the 21-year-old keeps up the good form, he is making a case to return to the Premier League next campaign.

Another player that was sent on loan to gain more experience under Arteta’s tenure was William Saliba. The French defender has become a key player for Arsenal this season as they aspire to win the Premier League for the first time since the 2003/04 campaign when Arsene Wenger was in charge.
