Frosty Mbappé-Al Khelaifi reunion
The PSG president and the striker met for the first time since uncertainty over Mbappe’s future emerged as the club continue pre-season training under Luis Enrique.
Kylian Mbappé's first pre-season training session at PSG’s new training complex on Tuesday afternoon coincided with a visit of Nasser Al Khelaïfi. The squad posed for a group photo with the striker opting for a discreet position in the corner of the group as they posed with a Sergio Rico shirt as a tribute to the former goalkeeper who is currently recovering following a serious trampling incident with a horse.
The president appeared in Poissy to deliver a motivational speech to the entire squad and to ensure that “no one is above the club.” The captain of the French team has already decided and seems set to fulfill the last year of his contract and not renew until 2025. The unilateral clause that was inserted into his last contract, signed in May 2022, expires on July 31, the same day that 40 of the 80 million loyalty bonus that PSG must pay him will be triggered.

At the moment, no meeting between Al Khelaïfi and Mbappé is planned and as things stand the striker will form part of PSG’s Asian tour with Mbappé and Neymar the star attractions for fans in Japan.
PSG and Al Khelaïfi are anxious to get a quick response from Kylian Mbappé with Qatar keen to renew his deal so as not to risk losing him for free next year, a situation that could perfectly occur in the event that Bondy’s talent refuses to leave, which is his intention this summer.
If he does not renew and goes free in 2024, the economic consequences could be devastating for the French side.
