Gareth Bale set to miss El Tráfico derby between LAFC and LA Galaxy
The Welshman has not received his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate and he has not trained with the rest of the team so far this week.
All eyes will be on Los Angeles Football Club where Gareth Bale makes his debut in Major League Soccer this season. Bale was expected to see minutes on July 8 against the LA Galaxy at the Bank of California stadium. Unfortunately the Welshman has not received his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate yet and that has prevented him from training with the rest of the team.
Bale update
“The process is still ongoing, so I don’t have an answer for you,” said coach Steve Cherundolo to reporters on Wednesday when asked about Gareth Bale’s paperwork. According to information from AS USA, the former Real Madrid player will not be available to play on Friday night, but there is a small chance that his paperwork arrives on-time and becomes available to play in El Tráfico derby.
Chiellini’s first full week in training
On the other hand, Giorgio Chiellini has been training with the rest of his teammates and is expected to make his first MLS start against the Galaxy. The Italian defender has had an immediate impact on and off the pitch and everyone welcomes a player of his quality and experience.
“Obviously his abilities to communicate on the field and leadership have already been felt. Any time you add players like that it improves the performances and concentration of others. So, his impact has been great and positive,” said coach Steve Cherundolo.
“The respect everyone has for him, more the young guys because they can learn a lot. Also, the experience, the leadership, he is a winner and all of that will help us. We [LAFC] are a young team and sometimes you need experience and a leader to help the defense close a game. If you have a leader in each position it makes it easier to win,” said LAFC’s captain Carlos Vela.
