“With my haircuts you can see if I’m really happy or not,” smiles Antoine Griezmann, sitting in the chair with bright pink hair, hours before the game against Barcelona at the Metropolitano. “We have to be a team that is organised defensively and offensively, that stays together and shows intensity as we have been doing in recent games. We will enjoy the game, because it will be very good”, the French attacker said to the club media outlet.

Making the fans happy and showing happiness

“Hopefully there will be a special atmosphere, a great night, and we will make our fans happy”, continued Griezmann, back this season to the definitive footballer he was, now in his second spell with Los Rojiblancos, and once again with the happiness that his football and his hair transmits.

“With my haircuts you see if I’m really happy or not. Ever since I was little I’ve been like this, using colours, where you can tell that I’m happy. The choice was blue or pink. We have three girls at home, we are two boys, and the pink won,” he explained.

For him, Atlético de Madrid is “everything” along with with Real Sociedad, the club where he made his name as a top player. “Atlético are the ones who gave me everything at a football level, but also in my private life, where I learned many things, values. That’s why I did everything to come back. I know this is my home. It’s where I’m happiest,” he declared.

“We are really enjoying being here in Madrid”, adds Griezmann, who in his career with the club, from 2014 to now, picks out moments such as his presentation, saying that “there were a lot of people in the Calderón” or an overhead kick he scored against Roma at the Metropolitano in the 2017-18 Champions League, because “[I] had not scored a goal for a long time and in the celebration [I noticed] that the entire stadium was happy” for him.

He also remembers the Europa League in Lyon with his family and all the Atlético fans. “Hopefully I can have even better moments”, he said.
