Guillermo Ochoa ends run of 50 consecutive games as starter for América

Gillermo Ochoa will see his streak of 50 consecutive Liga MX games in goal for América end with his absence for tonight’s game against Necaxa.

This Friday, it was reported that the captain of the Águilas did not make the trip with the rest of the team to Aguascalientes after coach Fernando Ortíz decided to rest him after the intense action he has seen, between his participation with national team and club from Coapa.

Ochoa’s streak ends

With his absence from today's match, Ochoa will put an end to a streak of 50 league games as the Eagles' starting goalkeeper.

Guillermo missed the first three games of the 2021 Apertura because he was participating in the Olympic Games with the national team, with which he won a bronze medal.

The goalkeeper resumed his ownership of the America goal as of date four of that tournament, on Sunday, April 15, in the duel against Atlas. And, from then on, he hasn’t missed a single game .

In total, 50 matches, between the regular phase and the league, in which Memo defended the Las Águilas goal without missing a single minute.

There were, in total, four thousand 500 minutes in a row that Ochoa played as America's starting goalkeeper during this period.

The streak will be cut short tonight, when Guillermo supports his teammates from home.
