Guillermo Ochoa has earned the starting job at Salernitana in Serie A since arriving during the winter transfer window and he has made seven 10 starts, conceded 20 goals and kept two clean sheets. The veteran shot-stopper is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the history of the Mexican national team and in CONCACAF.

Another milestone for Ochoa

The 37-year-old made his fifth World Cup appearance in 2022 with Mexico and he has been an important player for club and country during his playing career. Guillermo Ochoa was included in a prestigious list alongside Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Casillas, Petr Cech, Edwin Van der Sar and Hugo Lloris among others.

The PopFoot included the Mexican international in the list of goalkeepers of the 21st century with the highest number of clean sheets in the national team (games without conceding a goal). Ochoa is in seventh place in this list with 57 clean sheets in 135 appearances with the Mexican national team.

It will be tough for Memo Ochoa to increase the number of clean sheets with El Tri because he will have to fight with Carlos Acevedo for the starting job under head coach Diego Cocca. In the first game of the year, the manager decided to start the Santos Laguna shot-stopper over Guillermo Ochoa in Mexico’s 2-0 win over Suriname.
