Guillermo Ochoa returned to the starting line-up for Salernitana in a 3-0 win over Monza in Serie A on Sunday. The Mexican goalkeeper impressed and for the first time in Italy, he kept a clean sheet on a great day for the team and for himself.

With the arrival of Paulo Sousa as Salernitana’s manager, there was much speculation as to whether Ochoa would return to the team’s starting eleven. The Portuguese praised the Mexican goalkeeper, however, in his first game he opted for Luigi Sepe to start between the posts.

A week later Sousa decided to play Ochoa who was featuring in his seventh game in Italy. He performed well to keep a clean sheet, something Salernitana had not achieved since October 2022.

Sofascore data shows that he recorded three saves, two of which came from shots inside his own box. He also had one clearance in the air and completed four long passes.

His saves have not gone unnoticed as there is now talk that Milan and Inter are interested in Ochoa’s services for next season. The Mexican national team goalkeeper has a contract with Salernitana until June, so he could join any team as a free agent.
