Haaland’s thoughts after 5-goal Champions League game
Erling Haaland broke records with his five-goal performance in the Champions League on Tuesday. Here’s what he had to say about the game.
Erling Haaland made history and broke records with his five goals in Manchester City’s 7-0 Champions League win over RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old striker became the fastest player to score 30 goals in a Champions League, doing so in just 25 games, and became the youngest to do so, younger than Lionel Messi was by six months.
City made “a statement”
Haaland reflected on his performance after the game, and about what that victory means for Manchester City.
“I’m really proud and happy,” said Haaland. “I think we showed kind of a statement that we’re still in there. We still have some quite good players and we can still do the these kinds of things at home. It’s hopefully more to come.”
“Every game in the Champions League will now be difficult,” he continued. “So we have to perform at the best every single game.”
“Honestly, I don’t have to say too much because we won 7-0 and I scored five goals. I don’t have to speak too much.”
