Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a third bid from the German champions, suggesting that the England captain will be staying with Spurs this summer.

Bayern Munich’s latest bid to prise England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur has been unsuccessful.

Last Friday the German champions submitted a bid for Kane worth around €100 million ($110m), which would equate to a club-record signing for Bayern. However Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is thought to be holding out for £100 million ($128m) for a player with just one year remaining on his contract.

The Athletic reports that talks between the two clubs in London last week were unsuccessful and the two sides remain far apart in their valuation of Kane.

Bayern failed to replace Robert Lewandowski when he left for Barcelona last summer and nearly lost their grip on the Bundesliga title for the first time in a decade. Even at 30 years of age Kane is a genuine world class forward who could both add goals and help knit Bayern’s attack together.

However Kane is so central to Spurs’ prospects going forward that it will take a huge bid to convince Levy to part with him.

Will Harry Kane go to Bayern Munich this summer?

Last week it was reported that Bayern Munich’s latest bid, the third submitted this summer, was their final offer. Unless he signs a contract extension with Spurs Kane will be free to agree a pre-contract deal with Bayern in January 2024, allowing him to move for free next summer.

However Levy appears to be hoping that Kane can be convinced to stick with Spurs if they start well under new head coach Ange Postecoglou. The former Celtic boss joined Spurs this summer.

On Sunday Tottenham enjoyed a comfortable 5-1 win over Shakhtar Donesk, with Kane scoring four times. After the game Postecoglou confirmed that there is an “open dialogue” between Kane and the club but insisted that he he focused on continuing his preparations with the squad.

“We can’t wait for a decision either way to get going,” Postecoglou said. “We don’t have the time or the luxury to do that.”

I’m working with what’s in front of me. You saw today that Harry certainly is invested in what we’re doing and we’ll keep on doing that unless something changes.”

Historically Bayern have been reluctant to spend big money and the most recent bid for Kane already far exceeds the club-record €80 million deal for Lucas Hernandez in 2019.
