Paulo Dybala is out of contract at Juventus next week and it seems unlikely at this stage that the Argentina international will be offered a new deal after speaking to Inter Milan about a possible transfer to San Siro. The move appeared to going ahead recently but has now stalled, leading to speculation about the possible appearance of another club interested in taking the 28-year-old on a free transfer. To that effect, Tuttosport reported that Real Madrid may be keeping tabs on the situation, to make a move for Dybala in the case that Marco Asensio decides to leave the Bernabéu this summer. However, sources within Dybala’s camp consulted by AS have said they have not heard anything about a possible phone call from Madrid.

Inter Milan need to free up two places in their squad to accommodate the return of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea and the proposed arrival of Dybala from Turin. The Serie A side have more or less made Lautaro Martínez, Alexis Sánchez, Joaquín Correa, Andrea Pinamonti, Sebastiano Esposito, Martín Satriano and Edin Dzeko all available for sale, but as yet there have been no serious offers for any of them. Until some of Simone Inzaghi’s squad has been trimmed, any deal for Dybala will be difficult.

Real Madrid preparing for summer overhaul

However, there is a similar situation at Madrid, with several players currently in limbo before the summer transfer market kicks off in earnest. Among them is Asensio, who has one year left on his deal and is considering a change of scenery in search of more regular playing time following the emergence of Vinicius and Rodrygo, and Fede Valverde’s ability to fill in on the right wing in a pinch. Lucas Vázquez is also able to play in Asensio’s position and Carlo Ancelotti has yet to try and work out how to incorporate Eden Hazard back into the side when the Belgian has fully recovered from his fitness issues.

Other players who may be moved on this summer include Mariano Díaz, Dani Ceballos and Jesús Vallejo, while long-serving vice-captain Nacho is also considering his options following the arrival of Antonio Rüdiger.
