Mexico reached the semi-finals of the Gold Cup after defeating Costa Rica 2-0 and are now close to winning the trophy. In the game against Los Ticos, players Henry Martín and Edson Álvarez had injury problems and there were concerns going into the next match.

According to information from TUDN reporter Mafer Alonso, the two players have been progressing well, and therefore could feature in the Gold Cup semi-final if coach Jaime Lozano considers it appropriate. El Tri are favourites to win the tournament but still have two games to win before becoming champions.

Martín the main striker for Mexico

It is worth mentioning that the Ajax player suffered a blow to his knee, while Martín had muscular discomfort. In recent days the two players have been constantly evaluated by the medical staff.

Martín has been the starting striker in the games for the national team and is competing for that place in attack with fellow forward Santiago Giménez, who recently won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord.
