Update:

Following Wednesday night’s 1-0 win over Atlético San Luis - the very club that introduced him to Mexican soccer - André Jardine has now reached the 100-match milestone as head coach of Club América in domestic competition. That tally includes both regular season fixtures and playoff matches. Remarkably, the Brazilian has yet to miss a Liga MX final since taking charge of Los Azulcremas.

It’s a journey that began on July 1, 2023, with a rocky start: a loss at Estadio Banorte to FC Juárez. At the time, few could have predicted the historic run that would follow. Fast forward to today and, 100 domestic matches later, the 45-year-old has etched his name into the annals of the most successful club in Mexican soccer - and arguably, in the country’s sporting history.

Jardine’s stats as América head coach

Jardine’s record over this span is nothing short of impressive: 56 wins, 28 draws, and just 16 losses. Even more telling is his performance in the playoffs - only three of those defeats came in postseason play, and just one had a direct impact on the outcome of a knockout series. That level of dominance has translated into an unprecedented three-peat in Liga MX’s short tournament era - a feat that has elevated Jardine to legendary status among the América faithful.

Jardine eyeing long-term stay

As the coach himself has stated - and demonstrated by turning down offers from other clubs - his intention is to stay with Las Águilas for the long haul and continue building on this legacy. For now, América holds a four-title lead over its closest rival in the all-time Liga MX standings, but the mission doesn’t stop there. The expectations are sky-high, and within the América camp, there’s a clear understanding of what’s next: reclaiming international glory, starting with the CONCACAF Champions Cup and all the prestige that comes with it.
