What is Erling Haaland’s goal scoring record against Real Madrid?

The Norwegian striker has not been in the best of form, and Real Madrid are never an easy opponent.

Update:

Real Madrid beat Manchester City on penalties in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals to set up a final four tie against Bayern Munich.

The game was a tense affair that ended 1-1 (4-4) and the standout story - apart from Madrid going through - was the lack of a scoring touch from City, who had 33 shots across 120 minutes. Erling Haaland, once again, failed to show up.

What is Erling Haaland’s record against Real Madrid?

Hold onto your hats: Erling Haaland has never scored against Real Madrid. That’s right, the Terminator has never managed to put the ball into the net either home or away against Los Blancos, meaning that the game at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu takes on a new meaning for both the forward and Manchester City.

Haaland’s recent record does not do him any favours either: while he is the Premier League’s top scorer with 19 goals so far, his form has not been there for a while and his poor performances have led to criticism from some, with one pundit (guess who before clicking the link) labelling him a ‘fourth division player’.

With Erling in the side, City have played against Real Madrid just twice (last season’s semi-finals) with Haaland in the side. They managed to score 5 past them (1-1 & 4-0) but he was not on the scoresheet in either game.

Despite the drought from the Norwegian, “it will be an attractive match for the world of football” Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said, “because it’s between two teams, I won’t say we are similar because we both have our own characteristics, but both with a lot of individual quality. That quality is going to make for a very attractive match at a very high technical level. We think of being superior in some aspects, they probably think they are better in others. The superiority will be seen at the end of the 180 minutes, when we see who wins the tie.”

The game between Real Madrid and Manchester City will be played on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET/ noon PT.
