Borussia are on the list of few times to have reached glory in the European most important title, as they won it once.

The club’s biggest European feat happened in the 1996-97 season when they defeated Juventus in the final.

Dortmund, led by coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, finished second in Group B, behind Atletico Madrid. After that, they eliminated Auxerre in the quarterfinals and defeated Manchester United in the semis.
