CONCACAF NATIONS LEAGUE
How much money do the 2024 CONCACAF Nations League final winners receive?
Mexico and the USMNT lock horns in today’s CONCACAF Nations League final, with El Tri out to end the Stars and Stripes’ dominance of the tournament.
Regional supremacy is at stake tonight, as Mexico and the United States men’s national team clash in the final of the 2024 CONCACAF Nations League.
Can USMNT complete Nations League hat-trick?
The US, who qualified for the showpiece game with a dramatic extra-time victory over Jamaica, will seek their third straight Nations League title.
Meanwhile, having seen off Panama in the last four, Mexico can lift the Nations League title for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 2019. And if El Tri beat the US at AT&T Stadium, Jaime Lozano’s men will add to the CONCACAF Gold Cup trophy they won last July.
How much do the Nations League winners get in prize money?
Nine months ago, the USMNT earned $1 million in prize money for beating Canada in the 2023 final. This year, however, CONCACAF has opted against handing out a financial reward to the competition winners.
Rivals ready for “dogfight”
The lack of a winners’ cheque is unlikely to weigh heavily on the teams’ minds, though. Now winless in six games against their North American arch rivals, Mexico’s focus is on reclaiming their status as CONCACAF’s top dogs. The US, on the other hand, are eager to retain bragging rights over their neighbours - and remain the only country to have won the Nations League.
“These matches are always a dogfight,” USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams told reporters ahead of this weekend’s final. “We’re always familiar with a lot of the players on Mexico, so I think that makes it a little bit more of a rivalry. We know how much quality they have, we know how much quality we have.
“We know the talk and chatter behind who’s going to be the best team North America and obviously we want to continue to represent that - and, yeah, defend our title.”

When did Mexico and the USMNT last meet?
Tonight’s clash will be Mexico and the USMNT’s first meeting since their CONCACAF Nations League semi-final in June 2023 - a fiery encounter marred by altercations between the players and bad behaviour by Mexican fans.
In a game won 3-0 by the Stars and Stripes, four players were sent off - César Montes and Gerardo Arteaga for Mexico, and Weston McKennie and Sergiño Dest for the US - and referee Iván Barton blew for full time six minutes early, after El Tri supporters ignored warnings to stop singing homophobic chants.
