PSG will likely have to sell Kylian Mbappé this summer. There are no other options. The scenario is radically different from two years ago, when the player went to Nasser Al Khelaïfi’s office to ask him to let him leave for Real Madrid, but the president declined his proposal and managed, surprisingly, to tie him down to a new deal in May 2022.

A day after the latest episode of the soap opera, the player decided to issue a brief statement to AFP, assuring that “at no time had he negotiated his renewal with PSG”, and that, “management had been informed since 15 July 2022 of his decision not to renew”, so the letter was simply the formality that confirmed a fact that was already known to the upper echelons of the club.

Fee for Mbappé

The battle between Mbappé and PSG is well underway. The forward, who has been reluctant to step forward in the past, decided on Tuesday to put pressure on the club’s directors to find a solution. And in Doha, they have already decided that if a good offer arrives for the France international, which could be close to €150 million, according to ESPN, they will let him leave. The fee for Real Madrid could be higher due to the less-than-healthy relationship between the clubs.

PSG have no more options left to keep Mbappé. They have no way out and will have to make a decision in the next few days. The Ligue 1 champions no longer have the upper hand, and clubs interested in signing him know that it is not his plan to renew his contract and, to make matters worse, he announced this in July 2022.

Just three days into the summer transfer window opened, PSG will have to make a decision as soon as possible, as the current transfer window was designed to satisfy Mbappé with new additions to the squad and increase the chances of him renewing his contract. With his refusal to do so, he could be sold in the coming weeks.
