The final matchday of the 2023 Apertura has unfolded, and the positions for both direct Liguilla qualification and Play-In contention are beginning to take shape. Following the matches between Mazatlán and Toluca, with Mazatlán securing a 1-0 victory and Xolos facing a 2-3 defeat against Pachuca, the rankings from 7th to 10th are undergoing shifts, influencing the prospects of each team to advance to the next round.

Liga MX Apertura taking shape

In the wake of the surprising triumph that catapulted the Cañoneros on Friday night, they have ascended to eighth with 22 points. The Diablos, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to solidify their playoff spot and now rely on the hope that none of the teams playing on Saturday or Sunday will surpass them, jeopardizing their 10th place in the overall standings.

For their part, Xolos went from being in the Play-In positions to being eliminated from contention and now have their sights set on the next tournament. They initially held an advantage in the match against Tuzos but let their guard down, allowing Pachuca to stage a comeback in the second half.

How would the Play-In unfold at this moment?

Understanding that Puebla currently holds the seventh position, Mazatlán is in eighth, Pachuca is in ninth (all with 22 points), and Toluca is in tenth with 21 points, the matchups would be as follows:

- Puebla vs Mazatlán (The victorious team secures the seventh position on the table)

- Pachuca vs Toluca (The winner of this match faces the loser of the other match for the eighth position in the overall standings)

It is worth mentioning that in the battle for Play-In positions, both León and Santos have 20 points each. The Laguneros will seek their opportunity against Atlético San Luis on Saturday in San Luis, while La Fiera will face Juárez on Sunday.
