Insigne-mania as Italian star touches down in Toronto
The former Napoli player arrived on Canadian soil as he joins up with his Toronto FC team-mates ahead of his new MLS adventure.
MLS continues to add world-class stars to the league with the latest addition being Lorenzo Insigne. The attacking player is in Canada after finishing the 2021-22 Serie A season with Napoli ahead of reporting for duty to his new team, Toronto FC.
The skilful Italian winger will now work under coach Bob Bradley and his arrival in the Canadian city generated plenty of commotion as a large legion of TFC fans greeted the Italian at the airport and at his official presentation.
The player was patient with his new fanbase and patiently posed for selfies with the supporters and was happy to sign souvenirs.
When is Insigne expected to make his debut for Toronto FC?
Insigne will start training with Toronto FC next week, after which he will have to get up to speed before he can be considered for team selection by Bob Bradley. With that in mind, it is likely that Lorenzo Insigne’s debut with the Canadian franchise will take place on Saturday 9 July, when Toronto FC host San Jose Earthquakes at BMO Field.
