Inter Miami add surprise preseason game to their busy schedule
Reports claim that Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami will visit Peru to play a friendly against Universitario.
Inter Miami’s preseason is beginning to take shape. So far, the Fort Lauderdale-based team has only confirmed two matches, one against Club América and the other against Orlando City. However, the Herons are expected to announce additional fixtures in the coming days.
One of these matches is expected to be a visit to Peru to face Universitario. According to reports from Peruvian media outlets, including the newspapers Líbero and La República, journalist “Tigrillo” Navarro has confirmed that the friendly match between Messi’s Inter Miami and the two-time Peruvian soccer champions will soon be officially announced.
Honduras rumoured to be Inter Miami preseason destination
As reported, Inter Miami’s trip to Peru is scheduled for January 29, with the match against Universitario taking place at the Monumental Stadium at 9:00 p.m. local time, pending official confirmation.
This game will add another important commitment to Inter Miami’s preseason preparations. The team is also rumoured to be considering visits to other Central American countries, as they did last year, with Honduras being one of the possible destinations.
It’s worth noting that during a press conference introducing Javier Mascherano, Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas announced that the club would embark on a tour in 2025.
“We are going on a tour, but it will be one where we prioritise the players' physical and sporting needs. It will be different from last year. To ensure the players are prepared for the season, this preseason will be structured differently,” Jorge Mas explained.
