Inter Miami players posed in their new kit at the MLS media day just four days before the start of the new season as the club’s board continues to scour the market in search of new signings before the upcoming match against Real Salt Lake.

Tata Martino continues to prepare his team for the 2024 MLS season after a preseason to forget, and despite the club’s claim that it has served as a learning experience, what is clear is that the team will have to improve in several areas if they want to compete for the league title.

The focus is now on strengthening the team’s defence going into the 2024 campaign. Of the seven matches played in the offseason, the Herons only kept a clean sheet on two occasions (against El Salvador and Vissel Kobe).

The good news is the return of Sergio Busquets. The Spaniard did not play against Newell’s Old Boys as a precaution and to keep him fit for the opener in Fort Lauderdale. Busquets picked up an injury against Vissel Kobe and what is almost certain is that Inter Miami will look to start him against Real Salt Lake.

Transfer concerns

The failure to land Federico Redondo has only added to the concern for the Inter Miami board. According to The Athletic, the Florida club need to get rid of several players before they can make further signings due to their delicate financial situation, with the league’s transfer window closing on February 20.
