It hasn’t been a quiet winter in Florida. Inter Miami’s ‘Operation Exit’ is gaining momentum, with more than four departures from the first team sparking hopes for a calmer transfer window at Chase Stadium.

The exits of Leo Campana, CJ Dos Santos, and Diego Gómez could soon be followed by those of Julian Gressel and Matías Rojas. The objective is clear: to free up payroll space and create room to sign another star player to join their growing list of ‘galácticos.’

MLS Fair Play (FFP) was one of the biggest challenges at Chase Stadium last season. For instance, the signing of Luis Suárez was made possible only after offloading several players, including Josef Martínez.

Inter Miami sell big assets

During the summer, there was speculation about high-profile arrivals such as Neymar or Ángel Di María, but these options were quickly dismissed due to the team’s precarious financial situation. While MLS is willing to assist the franchise, it won’t do so without conditions.

So far, Inter Miami has already managed to open up a significant portion of their salary budget. Between the sales of CJ Dos Santos and Leo Campana, the club has freed up nearly $4 million in payroll, along with other financial adjustments.

The most significant development, however, has been the availability of a Designated Player (DP) spot. With only Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets currently occupying DP slots, the team is now in a position to pursue another high-caliber ‘galáctico.’

Which players could Inter Miami sign?

A variety of names have been linked with Chase Stadium. Several European legends could consider heading stateside for a high-profile retirement. Initially, Antoine Griezmann was rumoured to be the face of the club’s new stadium inauguration.

However, Messi’s anticipated contract renewal appears to have ended that speculation. Griezmann now seems destined for LAFC, joining compatriots Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris.

Meanwhile, Neymar’s continued stay at Al Hilal may be nothing more than a negotiating tactic. Inter Miami’s co-owner Jorge Mas is reportedly keen on bringing the Brazilian superstar to Florida.

While no specific timeline has been set, the club is taking a patient approach, much like they did with Messi. Whether in January or after the Club World Cup, Inter Miami are determined to make Neymar a reality. In Fort Lauderdale, patience is more than a virtue—it’s a strategy.
