Inter Miami are having a lot of difficulty in front of goal, and against DC United, they missed various chances that would have seen them come away with something more than a draw. The spoils shared at Audi Field means that Inter Miami run without tasting a win and all three points stretches back 10 games.

As a result, the team led by Tata Martino sit at the bottom of the East Conference league table. If only they had the best player in the world...

The game at Audi Field ended with two goals apiece after Fountas and Robertha scored for the home side while Cremaschi and Allen showed Messi what he needs to do when his plane finally touches down (and now we know when). Inter Miami’s lack of wins is not out of failing to try hard enough: they put themselves ahead twice in the game but twice were DC able to carve out a fatal chance.

When was the last time Inter Miami won a league game?

The last two words to the question are key, as the side have won in their last 10 games. A quick glance at a results chart tells you that they overcame both Nashville and then Birmingham Legion in the Round of 16 and quarter-final of the U.S. Open Cup. It is their league form where stage-fright kicks in: their last victory was way back on May 14 against New England Revolution, where goals from David Ruiz (who got sent off in the second half) and Josef Martínez were enough to overcome Carles Gil and co.

Messi to the rescue?

It’s more than safe to say that Messimania has hit Miami, with amazing murals cropping up across the city and the fans constantly in full voice, prepared for the moment the World Cup winner pulls on the pink shirt. Ticket sales are through the roof for all of Inter Miami’s games both home and away, with prices rising to unbelievable levels as fans flock from all over just to catch a glimpse of the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner.

His arrival is scheduled for next week and he will wear the number 10 shirt once again after his brief time as PSG’s number 30. His first task is clear: get Inter Miami away from the bottom of the table and dreaming of higher aspirations alongside the best player in the world.
