Is Andrés Iniesta going to Inter Miami with Lionel Messi?
The ex-Barça player has been linked with a move to MLS, but things may not be so crystal clear.
While MLS and Inter Miami prepare themselves, alongside Lionel Messi, for the Leagues Cup game against Cruz Azul, rumours have circulated about a possible reunion between Messi and ex-teammate, Andrés Iniesta, another Barcelona legend who may touch down stateside. Sergio Busquets has arrived and Jordi Alba is heavily rumoured to be joining the club based in Fort Lauderdale.
This Thursday, the news outlet Offsider reported that Iniesta and Inter Miami had reached an agreement in principle for the World Cup winner to join The Herons, but nothing has yet been confirmed. According to various sources, including Gaston Edul of TyC Sports and César Luis Merlo, the ex-Barça player is actually nowhere near close to joining the MLS team.
Would Inter Miami pay to sign Iniesta?
At the same time, various journalists have in fact confirmed that the links between the player and club exist as Iniesta was in fact offered to Inter Miami, but the MLS team have not taken the decision whether to sign him or not as his arrival, at the moment, is not viable.
It’s worth remembering that just a few weeks ago it was rumoured that the player was indeed an objective for David Beckham’s team, just after it was revealed that the 39-year-old would not renew with Vissel Kobe in Japan, meaning that he could arrive to MLS for free. However, the situation does not appear to have moved in any direction as things stand.
Is Suárez wanted by Inter Miami?
Recent rumours have emerged that Inter Miami wanted to sign Luis Suárez, another ex-Barça player, but Jorge Mas, the owner of the club, calmed the excitement saying that the club would respect the contract that Suárez had with Gremio, all while leaving the possibility in the air of a potential future deal with the Uruguayan.
